A great parkland course, who’s relative newness doesn’t detract from it being a fantastic play and location just an hour and a half from Dublin.
This beautiful Irish country Estate extends to approx 500 acres with the River Nore shaping its very existence as it dissects the 180-acre golf course.
Completed just 30 years ago in 1991 Jack Nicklaus was called in to give it his signature treatment.
Mount Juliet is fun to play, it’s takes in the established estate and works with the mass of water to bring that in play too.
Measuring 7,000 yards it has been built to stage championship golf. The Irish Open was meant to be played here last year but wasn’t due to Covid.
It is a number of years since I played Mount Juliet. I often wonder about changes that might have to happen to improve the course and whether those changes actually have improved it. It seemed pretty special to me when I played there!
But what of its name?
Several changes in name for the estate have included Waltons Grove and Kendals Grove, depending on who owed the Estate at that time. But as we all enjoy a good love story, it was the Earl of Carrick who named it Mount Juliet after his wife, Lady Julianna Butler, aka Juliet.

This course although it looks very pretty it's deceiving because you have to be extremely accurate. My game wasn't on point and I sent a lot of balls to the rough and sand bunkers. Jack Nicklaus designed this course to make it very painful if you're not accurate off the tee. Since the course was really wet, it was very difficult to get the ball out of the wet rough. I would love to one day return when the weather is more favourable. The facilities were world class.

Just a tidy up to the bunkers.

Brilliant test, fair and forgiving but you will need all the clubs in your bag.

I have played Mount Juliet 4 times. Super parkland with plenty of water and short but very challenging par 3s.
Always in wonderful condition and quite forgiving from the fee. Some long holes especially 18th which is a super and hard finishing holes.
Very good greens amd well kept fairways.
A joy to play it.

Stunning course and beautifully maintained. I would prefer better signage as to where things are.

Great Experience, top class from the moment you arrive, the lads in the Pro-Shop are incredibly helpful and friendly. Practice area is impressive along with a beautiful scenery. Down to the first tee and away we went, great game of golf with each hole bringing along different challenges, great test of your golf game, perfect greens, it was early in the morning so the course was still a bit wet but that didn't effect our round at all and after finishing the 18 holes, we found ourselves wanting more...

Fabulous course and very reasonable if your flexible with times. A must play for any golfing level.

Raking and placing in the bunkers was no advantage as between the leaves and the footprints in the bunkers there was no advantage to anyone, would have been better to "leave out of play" with a drop to the nearest point of relief not nearer the hole.
